Q. What equipment is required to hold a video conference? A. Each site participating in a video conference must have the following components:
- Codec (i.e. Polycom, Tanberg, Sony, etc.)
- Camera
- Monitor
- Microphones
- ISDN and/or IP network connection
The video conference equipment manufacturers generally package all of this together, with the exception of the network connection.
Q. Can I test my video system before a conference to be on the safe side? A. Yes. Genesys certifies all sites prior to conferencing. Site certification takes 30 minutes or less
Q. Where can you deliver services? A. Genesys Conferencing can deliver video conference services anywhere in the world that has standard ISDN services. As Genesys also delivers IP services, we cover virtually every country in the world.
Q. What is the maximum number of sites I can have on a single meeting/reservation? A. Unlimited. Genesys Conferencing has the ability to increase the number of sites in a single meeting. The typical number of sites in a single meeting ranges from 3-7.
Q. Is video conferencing cost effective? A. Yes, video conferencing is cost effective and beneficial.

Q. What happens if I have problems during my videoconference or if a site disconnects?
A. All managed conferences are, at a minimum, passively monitored. An operator is monitoring the video bridge statistics in real-time and assistance is immediately available should a site disconnect or an issue occur.
Q. How do I book a video conference? A. You can book through e-mail, phone or by using Genesys Video Center online. Once your reservation has been made, you will receive a conference confirmation via e-mail.
Q. How do I obtain a login to Genesys Video Center so I can book my conferences on-line? A. Contact your Video Service manager who will assign you a login and provide you with a brief training session.
Q. How much notice do I need to give to set up a conference? A. Genesys Conferencing would like at least 24 hours notice, but it is possible to deliver an ASAP service for current customers. ASAP conferences can only be booked by telephone.
Q. What information do I need to make a reservation?
A. Before making a reservation, please have the following information ready:
- Date/time of your meeting,
- The sites you wish to connect to
- Meeting host
- Any applicable billing information, if required
- Identify any needed conference features (recording, audio add-on, etc)
- Additionally, it is helpful to have contacts for all sites in case they experience any issues.

Q. What if I want to share an application from my PC? A. Genesys Video bridging services support all major collaboration standards for multipoint video conferences (i.e. H.329, Polycom’s People and Content as well as Tandberg’s Duo Video).
Q. Am I able to view my videoconference in different formats? A. Genesys Video conferencing supports both Voice Activated Switching and various Continuous Presence formats.
